What is the ultra modern 80/20 rule and are you using it to simplify your life?

Pareto Principle Presently...you've probably heard of the 80/20 rule which was invented, popularized, and made famous by a guy living in the Middle Ages in Italy named Pareto.

During his research he was looking at things such as the wealthy in society, how governments operate, and how humans interact with one another to see if he could find any commonalities. And that's when he stumbled upon a startling discovery.

Quite unexpectedly he did find a universal pattern that governs all things in humans and nature. This crosses all time barriers throughout history and all facets of life including personal, business, and government administration.

As luck would have it he saw 80% of results coming from only 20% of the efforts.

This has a couple of implications.

1. 80% of your effort is in essence 'wasted'
2. 20% which is very little effort gives the possibility for a massively successful business

This is a very powerful realization especially when you apply it and start focusing on those 20% of activities, customers and contacts, and people in your life who are bringing you the most value.

The tricky part, the results alchemy, is figuring out which 10%-20% of your efforts yield the lion's share of your results and profits.

It's mostly about knowing exactly what business you're in and then identifying the top 20% of your customers which buy your high ticket items and spend the most money with you. These are your most loyal followers who will support your business and yield you tremendous cash flow into the future so long as you take care of them and treat them as the gold they are.

For example let's say you work at a medium to large printing supplies corporation in the sales department.

You probably have multiple meetings during the week you're compelled to attend, plenty of calls coming in to your desk, lots of people "popping in" to your office throughout the day, and other deliveries and paperwork coming in.

As a side note stats show that the average worker gets only 1-2 hours of productive work done in an 8 hour shift.

So how do you rise above the mediocrity, become a friggin' superstar, and make all the money you want at your company?

Getting back to our example almost everything in the list can be cut out. You make money by talking with past clients and customers. And also, talking to new people who have a need for your printing supplies. That's all you get paid for.

So wasting your time in meetings, taking extraneous phone calls, failing to lock your door and allowing "pop ins", and dealing with unprofitable paperwork doesn't do you any good. In fact all these things hurt your job performance reviews and ultimately your career.

There are many creative ways to beg out of unproductive and unprofitable activities and focus time on those things which are truly profitable.

Take it from me, talk is cheap and discovering your true 10%-20% activities will make you more profits and free more of your time for family than you ever dreamed possible.

Because you'll have so much more free time you'll be far less frantic and stressed and therefore you'll be much happier and life. Since applying this principle into my own life I've noticed how much more time I seem to have and how much more at ease I am.
