If you're like a lot of new Twitter users, you may be thinking, "What in heaven's name should I be tweeting about?" Following are three things you can do to find notable things to tweet about. Your Twitter use will be so much more productive -- and profitable -- following these guidelines.
A Precursor to Using Google Tools
Focus, focus, focus. Relevancy, relevancy, relevancy. The number one rule to keep in mind when searching for interesting things to tweet about is to stay on topic; be relevant.
So many Twitter users forget this one simple rule. This leads to unnecessary procrastination and confusion. Once you are clear on what you should be tweeting about - instead of searching aimlessly for what you think you should be tweeting about - then choosing interesting things to tweet is so much easier.
One Internet Marketer's Tale of "Wrong" Twitter Use
One experienced internet marketer relayed the following tale:
She said she had been using Twitter for a few months, but was only gaining a few followers a week. So, she did some poking around the internet, reading tons of articles on how to get more Twitter followers - organically. She didn't want followers for the sake of followers, she wanted interested, targeted followers that she could build relationships with.
She said everything she read basically said to stay focused. So she started doi
ng that and within one week gained about 100 followers - just by sending out relevant, interesting tweets.
Now, on to Google tools.
Use Google Hot Trends to Find Interesting, Tweetable Items
For the uninitiated, "Google Hot Trends is an addition to Google Trends which displays the top 100 hot searches (search-terms) of the past hour in the United States." [Source: Wikipedia]
For example, let's say you sell sporting goods. You go to the Google Hot Trends site and notice that "tour de france stage 11 results" is a topic in the Top 10. You could tweet about this, ie:
Will Lance (Armstrong) regain the Tour de France Crown? Get the latest results at [put link to Google Hot Trends article here].
Use Google's Keyword Adword Tool
In case you don't know, this Google tool is used by SEO writers and internet marketers to conduct keyword research.
By ferreting out the most popular keyword phrases in your niche, you will easily find popular topics to tweet on.
Twitter Use: The End Goal of This Social Media Marketing Medium
Twitter keeps you in constant contact with interested prospects. By introducing them to interesting products and services that help them to achieve their goals, you do the following:
(i) increase your Twitter following; (ii) effectively brand your business; (iii) generate more leads; and (iv) make more money.
And, this is how using Google tools can help you get more Twitter followers.
