Buildings nowadays are brimming with the latest technology; people will be talking on their brand new mobile phones while browsing on the internet on an up to date computer. Little do people remember that less than 20 years a go, this was not the case. Network communications have made our lives easier every day and now people feel like they can't live without the internet, they need it to keep in contact with friends and family. But people seem to have forgotten that there was a time when we did not have these things.
More people are choosing to move great distances away from their hometowns, whether it's for university or to settle down and start a family. Without network communications, people would still be writing letters to one another, often not hearing from loved ones for days. With the aid of these network communications, you can now instantly start a conversation with someone over the internet, not matter how far away they are. With the added bonus of webcams and sites such as Skype, you can also view the person you're talking to, making it seem like you are having a conversation with them face to face.
Network communications also help in keeping people safe. CCTV cameras are everywhere, capturing images so that, should something untoward happe
n to you, the criminals will be caught on the camera and justice will be served. Similarly, there is constant communication between ambulances and hospitals and police cars and police stations so they can alert them as to whether they are bringing someone in and the equipment they'll need once they get there.
In offices, the need for network communications is overwhelming; people need to not only make calls to clients, but to other people within the office. With the mountain of work people seem to have every day, they don't have time to locate another person within the office to discuss with them what they need to talk about, phoning them is much quicker and easier and means that you can carry on with what you're doing at your desk.
Finally, there's mobile phones; they've become as much of a handbag staple as house keys and purses. They mean that you can stay in constant contact with people whether you're lost, in need of a lift or just bored, mobile phones mean that all you need to do to be chattering away to your best friend is scroll through your phone book and press a few buttons.
There's no doubt about it, network communications have made life easier both at home and at work. Some may be nostalgic for the days of a hand written letter, but it's highly likely they'd complain that the letter doesn't appear in the instant someone has sent it.
