Many of us may not be born to be great public speakers but we can do something and work on becoming one. Indeed, there are tips on public speaking that will help us achieve our goals on how to be a good public speaker and to clearly convey things we want to share to a lot of people, and be successful in whatever career we chose especially those dealing with the people.

Here are some tips on how to be a good public speaker, which you may find useful in making your speeches great, effective and impressive.

1. Master your speech. One of the things that can give you confidence in public speaking is to calm your mind by being prepared for the speech. Of course, the more prepared you are, the more you feel confident about giving your speech.

2. Maintain proper posture during your speech. Stand erect and put your weight on both your feet. Also watch your body language while giving your speech. Get rid of mannerisms that can be distracting to your audience. Instead, use gestures to make your speech more effective, but of course, make sure you are doing it in the right timing.

3. Vary the pace of your speech. Make sure you are not speaking to fast or too slow. Of course, you don't want your audience to find your speech hard to grasp, and you don't want also to bore them with a very slow speech. To learn how to be a good public speaker, vary your pace throughout your speech, of course, depending on what you want to emphasize and of course, make your speech energetic.

4. Practice your diction with tongue twisters. Tongue twisters are great exercises to improve your diction and improving your diction will make your speech more effective to the audience. The clearer your words, the more effective you can convey ideas to them.

5. Modulate your voice. Very high pitched voice can be irritating to the ears so make sure that you also make an effort to modulate your voice to make it pleasant for the audience and for them to be interested in whatever you have to say.

6. Open your speech with something striking or interesting and end it in the same way. This will capture your audience's attention from the beginning of your speech and leave a good impression as you end it. Keep in mind not to make your speech too long that will tire your listeners. Make a speech that is not too short but not too long that will drain the interest of your audience as well.

Of course, aside from these tips on how to be a good public speaker, you have to also keep in mind some small but important details in giving a speech - dress well, establish eye contact with your audience and of course, refrain from reading your entire speech in front of the people.

It also helps to use humor in your speech but make sure you can deliver it well. Sometimes attempting to add humor may end up embarrassing but, of course, you can learn how to do it effectively.
