Most Americans have been contacted by telemarketers at least once if not several times throughout their lives. These contacts happen numerous times and they can become very irritating.
However, once in a while a tempting offer may come through the phone for something that you need. When this offer comes it is important to have decided how you will know whether they are a trust worthy company or not.
Too many people trust companies and people they should not and as a result they lose money over it. It is sad that there are so many fraudsters out there.
The first rule of telemarketing business is that you should never do business with someone that you do not thoroughly trust. Make sure that you are familiar with the company before you purchase anything.
If you do not know anything about the company, take a phone number you can call and say you will call back in a minute. Then go to your computer and look up the company.
Review the reviews that real people have posted about the company, not the testimonials posted by the company. If these people seem to say that this company is trustworthy and the quality is very good, then you may want to call the company back and see if you can purchase their product.
If you cannot find anything online, but still want to know more, ask the telemarketer to have the company send you more information about the company and the product. A legitimate company will send you that kind of information gladly and promptly.
However, a fraudster will not be willing to send you that kind of information because it is too much work. They are simply trying to get free money.
In addition to becoming comfortable with the company, you will want to make sure you understand what is really being offered. Sometimes telemarketers will mention other things that are not really part of the package deal.
It is a good policy to repeat back to the salesman what you understand is being sold, the price, when it will be delivered and so forth. You will also want to make sure you understand and agree with the return and cancellation policy.

n addition, never purchase anything without a sure way to be able to contact the company. Many fraudsters will simply disappear once you have purchased something making it impossible to recover your money.
It is also a very good idea to get things like the return and cancellation policy in writing before you purchase an item. This will help make sure that the company stays responsible for their claim.
Another place you can check to make sure this company is reliable is the state or local consumer protection agencies. A legitimate company will be properly licensed and registered through these entities.
These agencies and the Better Business Bureau also keep track of the complaints that come in against various companies from various customers. All of these things are indicators as to whether or not you can trust a company, but they are not guarantees that the company is actually trustworthy.
However, you had better feel pretty certain that they are trustworthy before you give them your financial information to complete the purchase. Bank account numbers, credit card numbers, social security numbers, and other important information should never be given out liberally.
You should also feel assured that the information is necessary to complete the action, otherwise you should withhold the information. There are many things that fraudsters will do with your information once they have it.
They may create unauthorized charges to your account, deduct money from your account, or impersonate you and build up a significant amount of debt under your name. These things could negatively and severely impact your life.
One of the sales tactics that many telemarketers use to get you to purchase an item is the scarcity tactic. They will say that it is a limited time offer or that there are only 200 left.
This puts pressure on you to buy it quickly before you have really thought it over. However, you really need some time to decide whether or not this is a good offer.
Often these tactics are used on legitimate items, but high-pressure sales tactics are often a sign that someone untrustworthy is trying to trick you. By following these tips you will be able to avoid fraud and save your money without risking your identity and other very important information.
