Questions to ask before you book a hotel
When you are planning a trip to Paris, you need to find and book a hotel in advance. You may check out the options available online that suit your requirements and budget, and take your pick. However, before you book a hotel and pay for it, make sure you get what you are looking for, and what you are paying for as well.
After you are done with choosing a hotel in Paris, call up the front desk and ask the following questions.
Are there any promotions available on the room rates? You may not be able to get this piece of info if you do not ask. Sometimes, hotels do offer discounts – perhaps during an off-season or for a specific category of travelers, like honeymooning couples.
On which floor is the room you are booking? Usually ground floor rooms are darker as well as noisier. However, the advantage is that they are cooler too. If you wish for views from the window, it is better to choose upper floors.
Is your room street facing or courtyard facing? If you are getting a street facing room, consider the noise you would be able to stand. If the courtyard has a nice garden, it may be a better option for you.
Is a special amenity available? Before you book Paris hotels, consider whether you need something specific. Not all hotels come with elevators or wheelchair access. Neither are non-smoking floors available at all places.
Are there any additional charges for amenities? Imagine how horrid it would be if you get a bill at the end of the stay charging for the drinks in the mini-bar. Know which amenities come with a price tag even before you book.
What are the check-in and checkout times? Without this detail, you may have to wait in the lobby for a few hours. Also, specify the dates you want to check-in and checkout to avid confusion later.
What sleeping arrangements are available? A double bed room means a room with a large bed for two people. It is not the same as a twin room, which has two separate beds for two people. Know the exact sleeping arrangements in your room.
Are there beds available for kids? If you are taking your kids along, you need to ensure that they get proper beds to sleep in. Ask whether baby beds would be available, and how much they would cost.
Which bathroom facilities are available? Sometimes, hotels in Paris offer shower, bathtub, or both. If you need to have a separate toilet, you need to mention this at the time of booking.
Are breakfast and/or meals complimentary? It becomes easier to cut down on your trip costs if this option is available. It would also help knowing that you could come back to your hotel after a days sightseeing and get a meal.
Is a big party (may be a wedding party) staying at the hotel at the same time? If it is a big hotel, may be this would be of no consequence. However, if it is not, living next to a rowdy party could be very difficult.
